StopClock

Support

Help with your stop, your location, and your wake-up alarm.

Your first trip

  1. Search a destination or choose your train.
  2. Confirm the line, direction, and stopping pattern. Choose where you board and where you get off.
  3. Choose how early to wake and set a timed backup.
  4. Allow alarms and Always + Precise Location, then start the trip.
Will the alarm work while my phone is locked?

StopClock schedules a native iOS system alarm before it starts your trip. The fixed timed backup remains scheduled if GPS reception drops. Check that your alarm volume is audible and try the 10-second timer before relying on it.

Why has my stop count stopped changing?

Subway tunnels and poor reception can prevent a reliable GPS fix. StopClock keeps the last confirmed position and marks it as stale. It does not guess that you have passed stations. Your timed backup remains scheduled.

How do I enable location?

Open iPhone Settings → Apps → StopClock → Location. Choose Always and enable Precise Location. StopClock uses background location only during an active destination trip. End the trip to stop that tracking.

How do I stop or snooze an alarm?

Use the system alarm controls when it rings, or open StopClock and choose End trip or End alarm. Confirm cancellation. Snooze schedules another alarm in five minutes.

Which networks have line maps?

The current release includes NYC subway, Caltrain, LA Metro, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, San Diego, Helsinki, Minneapolis–Saint Paul, SEPTA Metro and Regional Rail, Baltimore Metro and Light Rail, and MARC. Always confirm the train you board. Data is bundled and does not include live disruptions or transfer planning.

Other systems, including BART, Muni, Seattle and Portland in this release, can use a geographic destination alarm with a timed backup.

Why does the map look different in some places?

Detailed 3D buildings, map tiles, place search and walking directions depend on Apple Maps coverage and a connection. Bundled station and route information remains available offline.

What happens after restarting or force-quitting?

Reopen StopClock to resume location detection. iOS manages the fixed system alarm separately. A powered-off phone cannot sound an alarm.
